In 1976, after 20 years of dynamic growth in his Waikato based family business, Brian Perry and his wife Peggy established the Perry Foundation with the vision of “giving back” to the community that had in turn assisted them with their business growth over the previous 20 years.
Driving sports development in the region with a youth focus was a key objective. This was clearly demonstrated when Brian was instrumental in the formation of Sport Waikato in 1986, seeing it was “of great social benefit to the individual and the community.”
This commitment to the Waikato sporting community resulted in many sporting events and facilities being supported by the Perry family, one of these being a seven year sponsorship of the Perry Aggregates Pro Am between 2003 and 2009. This tournament is highly regarded and successful with significant proceeds going toward the development of Waikato junior golf.
The Perry Family is excited about taking their involvement in golf to the next level by establishing the Brian Perry Classic. This Pro Am tournament will have the highest professional purse in the North Island ranking only behind the New Zealand Open and New Zealand PGA on a national scale. The Brian Perry Classic is seen as an excellent opportunity to bring another high class event to the region that is accessible to the entire community.
